The concept for church was God's idea. He created it to encourage and help Christians, in order that they might serve Him and accomplish His work here on earth. At North Highland we believe the local church is the vital core for effective ministry. Not to be confused with a building or a facility, the local church is a network of people committed to fulfilling the work of God utilizing different ministries. We have a diversity of ministries in an effort to encourage and strengthen the body of Christ, reach the lost, and disciple them. The ministries at North Highland Church are designed to reach all types of people. No two people are alike. That's why we use different methods to reach everyone. We offer various ministries for our adults.
CONNECT2 is a fellowship group specifically designed for young married couples (18 - thirty'ish). They meet every four - six weeks and enjoy doing energetic activities that most young people love. They might include a Valentine Banquet, a family day at the park (with ice cream/popsicles), coverd dish activities, or maybe a drive to a nearby restaurant. Food, fun, fellowship and spiritual enrichment are part of the activities they enjoy. Connecting couples to each other; to the church; and to our Lord. Facilitators are Kevin & Stacey Baker.
NSITE For Young Professionals. "Fusing the dynamics of family and career with God", NSite for Young Professionals is reaching a group of people who are at a similar station in life, but not necessarily similar in age. We are a community of men and women, married and single, in the 20's, 30's and 40's brought together to better understand God's call to living life with Him. Whether in a new career, preparing for one, somewhere on the corporate ladder, or a parent (the most important profession of all). NSite is helping people gain understanding on how to maintain their Christian walk flourish while dealing with the ever-changing demands of family, parenting, and a career.
NSite meets every Wednesday night at 7:40 pm in the Jehovah Java Coffee shop adjacent to the gym. With a team of leaders, including among others, Chuck Raymer, Bethany Rosella, Kevin Baker, and Annette Blankenship, each week there is a time to meet new friends over a latte or cappuccino, and a time of very concise study that is relevant to daily life.
If you don't consider yourself an "old professional", then NSite is for you. Come and see us.
DYNAMIC DUOS. An exciting group for the more mature married couples. These meetings focus on fellowship, outings and devotions. Duo activities range from covered dish dinners, a cook-out at someone's home, a day jet-skiing at the river, or maybe a trip to a nearby restaurant. Facilitators are Robert & Cheryl French.
DRAMA FOR ALL. Under the direction of Sue Skipper, this class has been developed to teach and train those who would like to learn more and develop their skills in acting as well as all other aspects of stage production. It is taught by Mrs. Sue Skipper, Drama Director in the Music/Fine Arts Department of North Highland. If you feel you have been gifted in this area or just have a desire to learn more about this ministry, contact Sue Skipper by email or call the church office and leave a message for her.

MEN'S MINISTRIES. A program encouraging men to be strong in the work of the Lord. Men meet throughout the year for activities. Men's Ministries is a vehicle for providing involvement and leadership to the men in our church. Honorbound: Men of Promise is the Assemblies of God men's fellowship. It is a new way of looking at oneself as a godly man. If a man can look at himself in the mirror and see himself as someone dressed in the full armor of God, ready to take on life as a man of honor. The "Honor Bound" men's retreat is an annual event.
The Assemblies of God has many opportunities and functions available to men. Check out the National Men's Ministries website at: http://www.men.ag.org/
Our SINGLE ADULT MINISTRY "SAM" meets on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. as a Bible Fellowship Group. We recognize the need and opportunity for ministry to and with single adults. We believe in reaching single adults through persistent prayer, planning, and relevant resources. Restoration of a single adult to spiritual and relational wholeness is provided through Biblical teaching, prayer, and fellowship. Finally, we believe in releasing single adults to discover and follow God’s plan for their lives.
The SENIOR ADULT MINISTRY is an integral part of the church. This very active group meets for Bible Study each Wednesday morning at 10:00 under the direction of Pastor Gene Forehand ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ). It is a time of refreshing with testimonials, prayer, singing and teaching. Activities are planned throughout the year that keep this group on the move. All that needs to be said is “load up" and the bus is filled and on its way. One of their favorite trips is to the Senior Adult Retreat at Lake Louise in Toccoa, GA. This is a gorgeous place to visit when the leaves are changing color … and shopping is always part of this trip. WOMEN MINISTRIES, Under the direction of Directors: Irene Cope, Wylena Fountain, Estha Paulk and Cheryl Davenport are reaching our women by providing an atmosphere of love and acceptance to women of all ages--a place where friendships and lasting relationships can be developed. It is our goal to offer women opportunities for growth and Christian maturity. North Highland has numerous women of the church who serve in these areas.
Our newest women's ministries group "GIRLFRIENDS" is facilitated by Cheryl Davenport. It is comprised of several different new and exciting groups. These groups meet once a month. See the church calendar for dates, times and location of each meeting. Here is a list of those groups and what they do.
